How It Works: 3 Phases
Each phase builds on the last. No shortcuts, no surprises.
Audit Current System
- Export full menu from your current POS (categories, items, prices)
- Document all modifier sets, forced mods, and upcharge rules
- Screenshot printer/KDS routing for each station
- List every role and its permission level (owner, manager, server, bartender, host)
Map Your Menu Structure
- Organize items by revenue class and department
- Standardize item naming (kitchen-proof, clear on tickets)
- In SkyTab: menu items are created in Manager > Settings > Menu > Items, each needs a name, revenue class, department, and price
- Important: SkyTab POS cannot delete menu items once added. Deactivate via the Active toggle. Get naming right the first time.
Prepare Modifiers
- Map choice sets: required vs. optional, min/max selections
- Define upcharges and substitution rules
- Pre-Modifiers prefix modifier names and appear on tickets/KDS (configured in Lighthouse Business Manager)
- Set display order per modifier set
SkyTab Makes Migration Straightforward
Your menu, hardware, and team settings are all managed from Lighthouse Business Manager. Here's where everything lives.
Manager > Settings > Menu > Items
Create items with name, revenue class, department, and price. Items can't be deleted, only deactivated via the Active toggle.
Manager > Settings > Hardware > Printers/KDS
Enter display name, IP address, select 'SkyTab KDS' model, and send config. Add backup printers per station.
Manager > Settings > Users
Configure role hierarchy with PIN or card swipe access. Set permissions per role for voids, discounts, and reports.
